My Profile

I, Chandidas Mohanty, was born on 26th February 1935 at Cuttack and had schooling at different places in Odisha from 1943 onwards. Passed matriculation examination in 1951. Did Intermediate Science from Ravenshaw college, Cuttack - then under Utkal University. Received graduation degree in Science and post-graduate degree in Economics from Univerity of Allahabad. Secured position in University post-graduate Merit List. I was actively associated with the cultural forums and games & sports wings of the University.

My service career commenced as a Project Executive in the newly created World Trade department of ICC, Kolkata in the year 1960. After two years in ICC, I moved on to join as a Management Staff of Burmah-Shell during 1962. Burmah-Shell belonged to the MNC Royal Dutch Shell Group and was the biggest producer & marketeer of petroleum products in India. After serving this company in various positions for almost seven years, resigned on the eve of its "nationalisation" during 1969, to join the undivided Fertiliser Corporation of India as Manager (Sales). Served FCI in various capacities till 1983 after which joined Cement Corporation of India as its Chief Manager and served it till 1986. Both were Govt. of India Undertakings. During the year 1986, joined Paradeep Phosphates (A joint venture of Govt. of India & Govt. of Nauru) as its General Manager (Marketing). During 1990 I was interviewed by the  Bureau of Public Enterprises, on behalf of Govt. of India, and was selected as the Managing Director of P.P.L. During my tenure the delayed Phase II of the company was commissioned successfully and the company, for the first time in its history, earned sizable net profit. After superannuation in 1993, I undertook several assignments as Advisor, Arbitrator and Management Consultant in important, institutions/organizations. One of the over sea prestigious assignments covered was a World Bank project for modernisation of Rock-phosphate mines of Jordan in Middle East.

Has Fellowship and Life Membership of many prestigious National and international Institutions/Organisations. Received training in India and abroad in all aspects of Management. Travelled widely & extensively all over the world for official & consultancy work. Present associations are with All India Management Association, Indian Council of Arbitration, SCOPE, Strategic Management Group and FAI. My book on English Poetry -"Bouquet of Wild Flowers" was published by a leading publisher of  Delhi in 2005. The second book, "Financial Management for Managers", is due for publication during this year (2011).

Happily married in 1963, is the father of two daughters and a son. Eldest daughter is a senior official in Indian Revenue Service, second daughter is an Advocate enrolled at Bar Council of Delhi & is also a partner in a leading law firm of Delhi. Son is a senior Manager in a renowned Hotel Chain.

After twenty four years stay at Delhi, I am currently residing in own bungalow at Bhubaneswar (Odisha/India). Absolutely fit & agile at 76 years, still continuing actively with consultancy and arbitration work.
